Beyond FDR: Pathways When Resolution Isn’t Reached

with Brintyn Smith and Alice Strang
Friday, 12 June 2026 | 12pm - 1pm NZST| Online

When Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) does not lead to agreement, it’s essential that practitioners can confidently guide parties on what comes next. This session is designed to equip participants with a clear understanding of the legal and practical pathways available beyond FDR, helping them better support clients through what can often be an uncertain and stressful transition.

Participants will gain an introduction to the framework of the Care of Children Act 2004, explore the available pathways for entering the Court system, and develop a practical understanding of what parties can expect as matters progress through Court. The focus is on building clarity, confidence, and capability - ensuring practitioners can provide informed, realistic guidance at a critical point in the dispute resolution journey.
